EDUCATION AND COEXISTENCE 30 INMEMORIAM JOSÉ MARÍA GALERA CÓRDOBA, A VICTIM FROM ALBACETE OF JIHADIST TERRORISM Profile of José María Galera Córdoba on the microsite www.fundacionvt.org/relatos-de-vida (http://www.fundacionvt.org/relatos-de-vida) From childhood, José María dreamed of joining the Guardia Civil, like his grandfather and father. He achieved that goal in 2000, when he entered as an officer. His work had taken him to Logrono, home to the Rapid Action Unit operating in the Basque Country and Navarre, to specialize in counterterrorism. In that setting he met his girlfriend, whom he married a little over a year before deploying to Afghanistan, where his brother — also a member of the Guardia Civil — had previously served. The ceremony took place in his mother's hometown, Tarazona de la Mancha (Albacete), where his dress uniform was the highlight of the day. With his maternal cousins, he also had a basketball team, a fitting sport for an athletic young man 1.90 meters tall, with whom he played in a league. Among the twenty-three citizens of Castilla-La Mancha murdered in jihadist attacks, inside and outside Spain, three lost their lives while serving on Spanish military missions abroad. One of them was José María Galera Córdoba, a Guardia Civil captain born in Albacete, an example of a vocation for service rooted in several generations. 11M EXHIBITION IN ALBACETE
