EDUCATION AND COEXISTENCE 35 In short, this is another instrument within the broad educational project of the Vic- tims of Terrorism Foundation, with near- ly two decades of classroom experience. More than fifty thousand students from over four hundred schools have taken part, helping promote peaceful coexistence, free of violence, and build the values and atti- tudes essential to our society today. A new edition of awards that invite classrooms to think, create, and commit themselves to a more just, free society without violence. The FVT, a state public-sector foun- dation, has among its purposes the promotion and dissemination of de- mocratic values, the defense of human rights, plurality, and freedom, as well as fostering a better understanding of the reality of victims of terrorism in our society. In line with these objectives, this competition was created and has become one of the Foundation's flags- hip projects. Over the years, these awards have become a channel of expression and closeness be- tween young people and victims of terro- rism.
