FUNDACIÓN VÍCTIMAS DEL TERRORISMO 95 - ENGLISH
16 NEWS The Board of Trustees of the Victims of Terrorism Foundation approved in April the award of collaboration grants for fis- cal year 2026. A total of 44 projects sub- mitted by 26 entities were approved, with an overall allocation of 348,000 euros, the same amount as in the previous year. These grants, issued annually since the Foundation was created, are aimed at groups of victims of terrorism and other entities with related purposes. Their goal is to provide economic and technical support for projects linked to memory, justice, comprehensive care for victims, and their social recognition. Beneficiaries include victims' associations and foun- dations, as well as academic institutions and organizations working to preserve the memory of and pay tribute to victims of terrorism. All projects were previously reviewed by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees, a delegated body composed of the Foundation's president, Juan Benito; the Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Susana Crisóstomo; and Profes- sor of Political Science Francisco Llera, THE VICTIMS OF TERRORISM FOUNDATION AWARDS COLLABORATION GRANTS FOR 2026 all of whom are members of the Board of Trustees. This committee, advised by a specialized external company, submitted a proposed resolution that was subse- quently studied and approved in plenary session by the Board of Trustees. The 2026 call received 45 projects, two more than in the previous year, although one of them — submitted by the Minne- sota Model Association under the title "Comprehensive Program for Victims of Terrorism and Families" — was not evaluated because it failed to comply with the call's regulatory terms. The ru- les allow each entity to submit up to two projects, although not all entities used this option. University participation is particularly noteworthy, with five projects submit- ted by three universities: the University of Navarra and Complutense Universi- ty of Madrid, with two initiatives each, and Rey Juan Carlos University, with one project. Overall, the approved projects show clear continuity with previous editions, focu- sing mainly on memory and justice, as well as direct care for victims. Initiatives include the publication and presentation of books, the creation of audiovisual ar- chives distributed through digital plat- forms, the organization of conferences, seminars, and lectures, film series, and awards. Alongside these actions, di- rect-support projects include therapies and psychological treatment, summer camps, Christmas events for younger participants, therapeutic and emotio- nal-support trips, sporting events, and legal advice services. Of the total number of projects appro- ved, 33 focus on memory and justice, 9 on providing support to victims, and 2 on legal advice. Activities funded through these grants will take place between December 1, 2025, and November 30, 2026, and must be justified to the Foundation during the final month of the fiscal year. The full details of approved projects and beneficiary entities are set out in the ac- companying table.
