67 PREPARING THE 24TH ANDALUSIAN CONFERENCE One of the most vital and established meetings of Spain's victims of terrorism community is already being prepared: the 24th Conference of the Andalusian Association of Victims of Terrorism. The 2026 conference, the first after last year's celebration of the AAVT's 30th anniversary, will be full of surpri- ses, both because of the quality of the speakers and because of the interesting cultural and fellowship visits that have become customary at this annual event. ` The mayor of Aracena, Manuel Guerra González, and Joaquin Vidal Ortiz, president of the AAVT, at one of the preparatory meetings for the 24th Andalusian Conference. The 24th Andalusian Conference will be held next October in Huelva, specifically in Aracena, a municipality located within the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park. It is, without doubt, a very special setting because of its heritage weal- th and privileged natural environment. For this reason, at the end of May Joa- quin Vidal Ortiz and Martina Vidal Gó- mez, respectively president and manager of the AAVT, met with the mayor of Ara- cena, Manuel Guerra González, who war- mly and enthusiastically welcomed the future celebration of the conference and promised the broadest possible support from his city council for the meeting. They also met with the third deputy mayor of Riotinto City Council, Andrea Macias. Located a little more than 30 kilometers from Aracena and despite its small size, Minas de Riotinto has histo- rically housed Spain's main gold, silver, and copper mines, giving it a distinctive industrial heritage that makes it one of Andalusia's most singular places. For all these reasons, it is emerging as an ideal setting for one of the cultural visits du- ring the 24th conference. ASSOCIATIONS AND FOUNDATIONS
