29 Juan Peña concluded by emphasising that "children and adults alike must bear in mind that, unfortunately, te- rrorism is among us in the world we live in. The barbarity, pain and de- vastation caused by each attack must not be forgotten." Next, the exhibition curator, Manuel Aguilar, also highlighted the fact that the exhibition "is now coming to what should have been the star- ting point of its journey, the district where the attack took place," empha- sising the tribute that the exhibition pays to the memory of those killed and injured. Among the former were eleven people born in the Community of Madrid. The president of the Victims of Terro- rism Foundation closed the speeches, with Juan Benito beginning his speech by thanking Madrid City Council and the District Council for their support, and then recalling that "last April, coinciding with the anniversary of the attack, we inaugurated an exhibition in tribute to María del Carmen Alcalde, Joaquín, Artu-ro, María Jesús, María del Pilar, Nuria, Flora, Lucia, María del Carmen Sánchez, Mercedes, Manuela, José María de los Ángeles, Elena, María de la Cruz, Isabel, Fernando and María de los Remedios". An exhibition that is our way of "honou- ring these eighteen people and the more than 80 injured that night at El Descan- so," said Benito Valenciano, but which also "brings to mind all those who lost their lives, all those who suffered phy- sical or psychological injuries, or saw their freedom taken away as a result of terrorist fanaticism." The exhibition remained open until 30 December. EDUCATION, CULTURE AND COEXISTENCE
