60 APAVT T he Association for the Support of Victims of Terrorism, in collabora- tion with the Association Victims of Terrorism(AVT), held a tribute ceremony in San Sebastián on 19 November in memory of all the victims of terrorism. The event was presided over byAPAVTPres- ident Mónica Muñoz Araujo, who led the minute of silence that opened the ceremony. Attendees then laid awreath at themonolith in memory of all victims of terrorism. This year, the tribute also featured amoving performance by an electric violinist, whose playing added an artistic and symbolic com- ponent to the event, reinforcing themessage of respect, remembrance and commitment to democratic coexistence. The gathering concludedwith applause and expressions of affection for the victims and their families, reaffirming the need to con- tinue promoting a dignified and truthful memory in the face of any form of terrorist violence. The conference concluded with speeches by Maite Araluce andMónicaMuñoz, who agreed that continuing to organise initia- tives that strengthen memory, justice and dignity is essential for victims of terrorism to remain alive and for those responsible to pay for their crimes. On behalf of APAVT, its president re- affirmed the association’s commitment to continue promoting initiatives that strengthen the memory, justice, and dignity of the victims of terrorism—non-negotiable pillars in the construction of a truly demo- cratic society.
