68 T he Association of Victims of Ter- rorism of Castile and León (Avt- CyL) awarded the Colmena Prize 2025 to the Memorial Centre for Vic- tims of Terrorism in recognition of its work in preserving memory, defending the truth and supporting victims and their families. Its key role in collecting and disseminat- ing victims' testimonies, preventing the ASSOCIATION OF VICTIMS OF TERRORISM IN CASTILLA Y LEÓN forgetting and distortion of history, its intense educational and social aware- ness work through exhibitions, confer- ences and teaching materials, and the support and dignity it offers to victims and their families are some of the merits that have been taken into account by the AvtCyL in awarding the Memorial Cen- tre for Victims of Terrorism the fourth edition of this award, which was previ- THE MEMORIAL CENTRE FOR VICTIMS OF TERRORISM RECEIVES THE AVTCYL'S 2025 COLMENA AWARD The Association of Victims of Terrorism in Castile and León (AvtCyL) has begun filming the documentary Memoria reve- lada (Revealed Memory), an audiovisual project that focuses on the importance of photojournalism in providing graphic evidence of the terror and pain caused by terrorism, creating a visual archive that serves as historical proof and helps society to remember the victims. Photojournalist Fidel Raso, based in Urueña, who covered the barbarity caused by ETA in the Basque Country for many years, will meet with victims whose attac- ks he photographed. Several victims from Castile and León will also participate, in- cluding two of those injured in the attack on a Civil Guard bus in Madrid's Plaza de República ously awarded posthumously to the for- mer president of the AvtCyL, Juan José Aliste, the Professional Association of Journalists of Castile and León, and the National Police. During his speech, Sebastián Nogales, president of AvtCyL, highlighted "the professionalism and commitment of its team, who have made the Memo- rial an international benchmark, and the leadership of its director, Florencio Domínguez, whose vision and responsi- bility have been decisive for the growth and consolidation of the institution, with which, precisely, this year, we have signed a collaboration agreement thanks to which more than two hun- dred university students from Castile and León have been able to visit the museum of this Centre, which should be a must-see for all young people in our country". It was Florencio Domínguez who was responsible for collecting this award at the ceremony held at the Mon- astery of Nuestra Señora del Prado in Valladolid. THE ASSOCIATION OF VICTIMS OF TERRORISM IN CASTILLA Y LEÓN WILL PRODUCE THE DOCUMENTARY MEMORIA REVELADA (REVEALED MEMORY) in Madrid in 1986, in which twelve people were killed. The president of AvtCyL, Sebastián Noga- les, highlights the enthusiasm with which they are tackling this new project, "with which we aim to give visibility to the vic- tims of terrorism and highlight the im- portant work that photojournalists did for decades, photographing the conse- quences of terrorism, which now allows new generations to see graphic evidence of the consequences of the use of violen- ce." The production of this documentary is made possible thanks to a collaboration between AVTCyL and the Regional Go- vernment of Castile and León, and it is expected to be released before the end of the year. Once it has been publicly presen- ted, AvtCyL intends to screen it in secondary schools and universities in Castilla y León and to make it available to any public or private entity interested in screening it. The direction of Memoria revelada falls to León-based journalist Pedro Lechuga, di- rector of the documentaries Coyanza-1975, Democracia Nuclear, Las Cuevas Menu- das and Xove, Democracia Nuclear.
