Du r i n g h i s speech, Juan Be- nito Valenciano emphasised the im- portance of education as a fundamental tool for combating radicalisation. "Edu- cation in democratic values, memory and respect for human rights is key to build- ing a more cohesive and secure society," he said. He also highlighted the role of teachers as essential agents in the early detection of extremist attitudes and in creating safe school environments. Valenciano strongly defended the presence of direct testimony from victims in classrooms: "Bringing their voice to young people is a powerful tool for raising awareness that violence is never the way forward in a democratic society." He warned about the lack of knowledge among many young people regarding NEWS the country's recent history, which, ac- cording to him, poses a risk of trivialis- ing terrorism and normalising hatred. "We must continue to work every day to keep alive the memory of all the lives that have been shattered," he conclud- ed, defending the testimony of the vic- tims as "the most powerful narrative against hatred, the violence and indif- erence”. The president of the FVT concluded his speech by expressing his gratitude for the conference, which he described as "a space for dialogue, reflection and ac- tive listening," and reaffirmed his com- mitment to the values of truth, justice, memory and dignity as fundamental pillars of democracy.
