ASSOCIATION FOR THE SUPPORT OF VICTIMS OF TERRORISM The president of APAVT, Mónica Muñoz, alongside the vice-president, José Ignacio Herce, and the association’s board member, Vicente Grande, attended the annual trib- ute to the victims of terrorism at the Bosque del Recuerdo in El Retiro on 11 March. To mark the “European Day for the Victims of Terrorism”, representatives from APAVT attended the tribute organised by the Association of Victims of Terrorism (AVT). APAVT present at the “EUROPEAN DAY FOR VICTIMS OF TERRORISM” NEW MEMORIAL SPACE FOR THE VICTIMS OF 11-M AT ATOCHA METRO STATION The site features, on the one hand, a natural black stone base where members of the pub- lic can place candles, flowers or other items inmemory of the victims. On the other hand, a metal plaque has been installed marking the spot where the glass cylinder stood, which, between 2007 and 2023, symbolised the memory of the victims of the attacks. During the visit, García Martín emphasised that this place “represents an indelible mem- ory, etched in the hearts of all Madrileños: the memory of the untimely farewell of some and the heart-wrenching suffering of others”, further stressing that it symbolises the de- termination of the people of Madrid to keep their legacy alive. APAVT’s presence at this event reflects its ongoing commitment to upholding the memory, dignity and recognition of all vic- tims of terrorism, as well as to preserving places of remembrance that help keep the collective memory alive 24TH IN MEMORIAM CONCERT IN HONOUR OF THE VICTIMS OF TERRORISM The president of APAVT, Mónica Muñoz, together with representatives of the association’s Board of Directors, attended the tribute concert for the victims of terrorism held at the Na- tional Auditorium on 6 March. The RTVE Orchestra and Choir per- formed at this concert under the pa- tronage of Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia. The event is held every year to coincide with the anni- versary of the 11 March attacks. The honorary president of APAVT, Miguel Folguera, was present on 10 March during the official visit to the new memorial to the victims of the 11 March 2004 Madrid bombings, installed by the Community of Madrid at Atocha Metro station. 53 ASSOCIATIONS AND FOUNDATIONS
