55 Once again, VITEPAZ accompanied the families of Fernando Buesa and Jorge Díez during the memorial events held on 21 February at the Europa Con- ference Centre in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Under the title “Compassion to transform. Mem- ory to build” , Sara Buesa, vice-president of the Fernando Buesa Blanco Foundation, invited us to engage in deep reflection. Later, on Sunday 22 February, a moving and defiant tribute took place at the monu- ment in the Jardines de la Libertad, next to the university, alongside the floral trib- ute laid in his memory every year. The unforgettable cannot be forgotten. On behalf of the Honorary President of the Extremadura Wrestling Federation, our President was presented with a beautiful figurine representing the Civil Guard, in recognition of his work on behalf of the victims and the Federation in that autonomous community. ` Award presented to VITEPAZ for its work with victims and their families. ` The award presented to our president, Alfonso Sánchez, by the Extremadura Wrestling Federation. ` At the entrance to the Conference Centre with the Government Delegate Marisol Garmendia and the father of the murdered Ertzaina, Jorge Díez Elorza, José Antonio Díez. ` At the ceremony with the director of the Basque Government’s “Gogora” Institute of Memory, Alberto Alonso Martín. ` Laying a wreath at the existing memorial next to the university with the President of the National Association of Civil Guards Marqués de las Amarillas, Blanca Echazarreta Luna. ` At the wreath-laying ceremony alongside the Government sub-delegate, Mar Dabán; the Basque Government’s Minister for Justice, María Jesús San José; the Deputy Minister for Justice, ArritxuMarañón; and the Director of Human Rights and Victim Support, Ainhoa Zugasti Bilbao.
