57 SUCCESS OF THE REGIONAL CONFERENCES ON TERRORISM IN CASTILLA Y LEON, FOCUSED ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NARRATIVE On April 29, the Faculty of Law of the University of Valladolid hosted the 3rd Regional Conference on Terrorism in Castilla y León, held under the title "The Narrative of Terrorism: Memory and Manipulation." Organized by the Association of Victims of Terrorism of Castilla y León and the Professional Association of Journalists of Castilla y León, the event is consolidating itself as a reference space within the university sphere for reflection on the memory of terrorism, the role of victims, and the responsibility of new generations in building a democratic, rigorous narra- tive respectful of truth. The opening session was attended by the president of the Association of Victims of Terrorism of Castilla y León, the Mi- nister of the Presidency of the Regional Government of Castilla y León, the Com- missioner for Victims of Terrorism, the vice president of the Valladolid Provincial Council, the vice dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Valladolid, the vice dean of the Association of Journa- lists, Ismael García Herrero, and the first vice president of the Valladolid Provincial Council, Victor Alonso. This showed ins- titutional support for a conference that brings together memory, education, law, journalism, and civic commitment. The audience consisted mainly of Law and Journalism students from the University of Valladolid, the primary recipients of an initiative that seeks to bring young university students closer to a historical reality many of them did not experien- ce directly, but which forms an essential part of Spain's recent history and of the defense of democratic values. The morning session took place in the Mergelina Classroom and included the screening of the audiovisual report The Treatment of Terrorism in the Classroom, with the participation of Uxia Barbeito Morono, Criminology student at UVa; Carlos Belloso Martin, assistant profes- sor of Legal History at UVa; and Miguel Ángel Perez Lamas, co-director of the MECOP Teaching Innovation Project: Memory under Construction for Future Journalists.
