60 ALBERTO JIMENEZ-BECERRIL FOUNDATION O n March 11, the European Day of Victims of Terrorism was com- memorated, coinciding with the 22nd anniversary of the jihadist attacks in Madrid. As usual, the Alberto Jimé- nez-Becerril Foundation against Terro- rism and Violence participated in several events, both its own and those organized by other entities dedicated to memory, dignity, and justice for victims of terro- rism in Spain. INSTITUTIONAL EVENTS IN MADRID FOR THE EUROPEAN DAY OF VICTIMS OF TERRORISM First, on March 6, the 24th Tribute Con- cert for Victims of Terrorism was held at the National Auditorium in Madrid, organized each year by the Victims of Te- rrorism Foundation. It was presided over by Their Majesties the King and Queen and performed by the RTVE Orchestra and Choir under the direction of Carlos Miguel Prieto. At the beginning of the event, Teresa Jiménez-Becerril, Alber- to's sister, had the opportunity to greet King Felipe and Queen Letizia together with other dignitaries and victim repre- sentatives. A few days later, on March 9, the audi- torium of the Institución Libre de En- señanza / Francisco Giner de los Ríos Foundation hosted the event usually organized by the Ministry of the Inte- rior, attended by various associations and foundations. This meeting served to highlight projects such as "Memory and Prevention of Terrorism," which aims to bring the history of terrorism in Spain into classrooms, thanks to the initiative of the Memorial Center for Victims of Terrorism, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, and Sports, and the Victims of Terrorism Foundation. SESSIONS OF THE "WORDS OF FREEDOM" LECTURE SERIES Within the Foundation's own field of activity, and as is customary around the- se dates, the Alberto Jiménez-Becerril Foundation organized several sessions of the "Words of Freedom" lecture se- ries, in which young students from se- veral schools in Seville were able to hear firsthand the testimony of four victims in different contexts. The first session took place on March 11 at Colegio Buen Pastor in the Nervión neighborhood, with Cristina González and Maribel Lobo. Cristina's brother, Juan Alberto, was the only Spanish vic- tim of the 2015 jihadist attacks at the Bataclan in Paris. Maribel Lobo is the daughter of Antonio Lobo, the first An- dalusian victim of ETA after the attack on the Rolando Cafeteria in Madrid in 1974. Opening the session were Esteban Rondon, Director-General for Juvenile Justice and Cooperation of the Regional Government of Andalusia, and Joaquin Castillo, vice president of the Jimé- nez-Becerril Foundation, joined by seve- ral Foundation trustees and representa- tives of Seville City Council.
